Reign FC vs. UCLA 2019 Recap

reignfc vs ucla 2019

It was a windy day on our 3rd annual UCLA vs REIGN FC soccer match, but an exciting one, nonetheless.

Reign FC opened the match with calm possession over UCLA, spreading the ball out wide and looking for the cross in the box. UCLA looked lively on the ball when they reached Reign’s final third, however, unable to have that killer finish punished them in the end.

Reign FC took advantage of their wide play with Jasmyne Spencer on the right wing, who supplied a deadly cross in the box for Darian Jenkins; 1-0, Reign FC. Jenkins, UCLA alumni and recently traded from North Carolina Courage, was outstanding all game, and Reign FC’s player of the match.

After a good spell of possession from UCLA, Reign turned it up and Darian Jenkins assisted teammate, Beverly Yanez, with Reign FC’s second goal of the day, closing out the first half 2-0.

The start of the second half looked much better for UCLA defensively. They buckled down on Reign’s wide play and were dangerous on the counter-attack. Ashley Sanchez seemingly moved to a false number 9 and controlled the midfield with number 21, Jessie Fleming. UCLA was quick on their touch and lively in the final third.

In the end, UCLA just couldn’t put it away, as Reign’s defense was too much for them. Final score 2-0, Reign FC.

We would like to thank all the players, coaches, and fans that came out on Saturday! It was a beautiful day for soccer and we cannot wait to host this event next year.
